The celebrity chef has been ridiculed relentlessly after sharing controversial financial advice from his father-in-law on a podcast.

On the High Performance Podcast, Gordon Ramsay shared the financial predicament he and his wife Tana found themselves in back in the day. The couple needed money for their first apartment, so Ramsay asked Tana’s father, Chris Hutcheson, for a £20,000 loan.
As reported by Indy100, Ramsay explained to podcast host Jake Humphrey, “We were young, we were stupid, we were skint.”
Ramsay recalled how he took his father-in-law out for a meal and asked about lending money, despite driving around in a Porsche at the time.
“He said ‘Okay, here’s what I’ll do. I’ll have another lunch with you when you sell your Porsche,’” the chef said.
I thought, you f***er. But, you clever f***er. Here I am driving around in a flash 911, and we didn’t even have a house, a flat, a roof over our heads. It was the best advice he ever gave me: Sell your f***ing Porsche.”
To put it lightly, not everyone online agreed with Ramsay’s financial advice.
On Humphrey’s Twitter post about the podcast, one user commented, “Great advice, just going to sell my Porsche and ask for £20,000 so I can buy a place to live. Housing crisis solved.”
“This is an incredibly powerful message. If you need money, don’t just sponge off someone else. No. Sell your Porsche. Really hit home, this one,” another user said.
Gordon Ramsay Is Getting Stingy With His Fortune
It turns out that Ramsay isn’t only sharing financial advice on Humphrey’s podcast. In fact, he’s sharing it with his children, too. However, the celebrity chef and TV personality wants to make it clear—he does not intend to leave his children a cent of his $750 million wealth.
Despite Ramsay’s immense financial success, he has claimed money isn’t his primary motivator. He doesn’t want it to be his children’s motivator, either. As a result, the chef has stated his children won’t inherit any wealth after his death.
On Reddit, Ramsay defended his parenting practices with his children, stating “I need to protect them and respect the restaurant and team in my restaurant. I made them as normal as possible… they’ve all got jobs, they’ve all taken care of animals, they’ve all got housework. There’s a rota. They get pocket money, but they have to earn that pocket money.”
